Summer Glow: Pixi Skintreats Mists

Summer.  The time where those devout makeup lovers slather on the spackle in the hopes that it doesn’t run down your face like melted ice cream from the heat.  But we try.  Oh boy, do we try.  We douse on the fixing spray as if it were a form of super glue that will keep every bit of makeup in place, even in 100 degree weather.

As the temperatures and humidity rise, my skin feels more hydrated.  I must admit that I loathe hot temperatures and stifling humidity.  Suffocating heat and becoming a dripping, sweaty mess is just not a good time for me.  My fear is stepping outside in a heat wave and melting like Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn in the end of Death Becomes Her.  So I’ll ditch the heavier matte foundation and toss on a tinted moisturizer or lightweight BB cushion.

Death Becomes Her - Hideous Immortality[1]

As I’ve been trying different products to create a skincare routine that makes my skin look and feel better, my main focuses are on hydration and anti-aging.  While I have a variety of brands in my current routine, I like to try out different products to see if I’ll discover a new goodie that will do wonders for my skin.  I started eyeing Pixi by Beauty’s Skintreats line recently after hearing numerous reviews raving about their products.

I got my paws on the Glow Mist and the Hydrating Milky Mist.  After just a few days of using these mists, I fell in love with these magical potions.  If you’ve never heard of these skincare gems, here’s some information on the two as well as my personal experiences using them.

Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!  That’s how I feel when I spritz the luscious Hydrating Milky Mist on my skin.  I began using this during my evening routine.  I follow the Korean skincare regimen.  I apply my toner, acids, serums, essence and then spritz this on before applying my emulsion, moisturizer and then a sheet mask.  The bottle has a pump applicator and disperses a fine mist that absorbs fairly quickly but doesn’t disappear completely.  It leaves my skin feeling super hydrated without feeling even the slightest bit greasy.  Be aware that this product does contain a fragrance.  I typically avoid products with any amount of fragrance in the ingredients.  However, I had read many reviews from those with sensitive skin and the general consensus was that it didn’t seem to irritate their skin.  I was surprised by the amount of people who had stated it did not cause breakouts.  Often when reading reviews on skincare mists, especially with fragrances, you’ll see countless reviews from customers who had some sort of reaction.  But I am pleased to say that I haven’t experienced any negative effects.

Not only does this leave my skin feeling and looking fabulous but it is formulated with some good for your skin ingredients.  I now apply it both at night and during my daytime routine.  Here are some of those ingredients that fight dreaded signs of aging:

Hyaluronic Acid:  A strong humectant (a fancy word for an ingredient that pulls in and binds moisture) that replenishes hydration while leaving skin appearing plumper and smoother.  Can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles with consistent use.  Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the body.

Provitamin A:  Stimulates cell growth while strengthening tissues deep in the skin.  This promotes firm skin.

Black Oat:  Contains amino acids and water-retaining substances.  Assists your skin with its natural moisturising process.

Linolenic Acid:  A plant-based fatty acid that conditions and restores the skin.  Strengthens skin’s surface which results in smoother and younger-looking skin.

Another Ahhhhhhh moment.  The Glow Mist is a concoction of a large variety of oils as well as propolis, aloe vera and fruit extracts.  Pixi states that this is for all skin types but I really think that those who struggle with dry skin will love this.  Those with oily skin can also try this without turning into an oil slick.  You can apply it under or on top of makeup to create a gorgeous dewy finish without appearing greasy.  Heck, you can even wear this and skip the foundation and it will give your skin a lovely glow.  If you’re wearing powders, this spray helps to melt your makeup layers into one another reducing any cakey texture.  Give your face a little spritz throughout the day and it refreshes your makeup.
These two sprays have been a fabulous addition to my skincare regimen.  I’m hooked and hope that these gems stay around forever so I can eternally have a stellar glow.
